The Apple Vision Pro certainly caught the attention of a lot of people, especially after demonstrations of the device started popping up on social media. Even with all the hype, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg believes and explains why its latest AR/VR headset is still the better option.
Meta Quest 3 vs Apple Vision Pro
To provide a fair comparison, the Meta CEO tried out the Apple Vision Pro before standing his ground on why the Quest 3 is still the superior headset in the market. He even impressed viewers of his video on Instagram by filming his opinion using the Meta Quest 3.
Of course, the first thing that he pointed out is that the Meta headset is a better value for the average buyer, considering that it is seven times less expensive than the Vision Pro, with the former price at $499.99 and the latter at $3,499.
As for comfort, the Quest 3 could also be superior in that aspect since it is 120 grams lighter, which could make a huge difference since the device will be carried by one's head. Plus, the Quest 3 already has a built-in battery, meaning that no wires will be in the way as opposed to Apple's headset.
As impressive as it is for the Apple Vision Pro to register the space that the user occupies, allowing place tabs and windows on fixed points, Zuckerberg claims that the Quest 3 has a wonder field of view, which lessens the probability of tunnel vision and can be more immersive.
Just like Apple's AR/VR headset, you can also open apps and websites using the Meta Quest 3 and have it float in real space. Given the function that Meta's headset is made for, Zuckerberg also boasts that it has less motion blur compared to its competitor.
Even Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, a prominent analyst for Apple products, said that the Apple Vision Pro needs four more generations of refinement before it becomes an ideal product., as reported by Interesting Engineering.
With input, people are impressed with Vision Pro being controlled via gestures, but Zuckerberg pointed out how controllers might be better for precision, especially for video games. Besides, the Quest 3 supports hand-tracking as well.
In addition to that, the Meta CEO also expressed that this method might not be better for complex tasks such as typing, as people have better control using keyboards and controllers, and maybe a neural interface in the future.
Quest's Library and Apps
It's no secret that the Quest lineup is still superior when it comes to games, especially since it has several exclusive VR titles, including Assassin's Creed Nexus, Vader Immortal, Dead and Buried, and several other games.
It also has access to apps that the Vision Pro is yet to have such as YouTube, or play on a bigger virtual screen while using a console, particularly Xbox. As mentioned by Mark Zuckerberg, that function is exclusive to Meta Quests for now.
