Taylor Swift's flight tracker is putting up a fight despite threats of legal action if they continue publishing information about the singer's flight history.
In a legal letter posted on X (formerly Twitter), Jack Sweeney, the person behind the flight tracker account, claimed there is "nothing unlawful" about recording and posting about Swift's flights.
Sweeney's legal representative reasoned that the account only posts the "location of private jets using publicly available information," failing to indicate a "life-or-death matter" Swift's legal team claim.
The legal paper reasoned that Sweeney used the same source of information as Elon Musk, Gov. Ron DeSantis, and sanctioned Russian oligarchs.
Sweeney, who is still a college student, received a cease-and-desist letter from Swift's team last December following a post showing Swift's supposed private jet taking a 14-minute flight.
Taylor Swift Criticized Over Private Jet Flights
Although Swift's private jet rides have blown out of proportion following Sweeney's posts, the American singer has long been criticized for her luxurious flights, often taking only minutes.
Environmentalists have slammed Swift for her repeated short flights that contribute to further air pollution wherever she goes.
It is worth noting that Swift's jet, the Dassault Falcon 900LX, consumes 267 gallons of fuel per hour.
Its carbon emissions are also high, reaching up to 200,000 pounds of carbon monoxide in a single flight, 14 times more than the carbon emissions an average American household produces in a year.
Environmentalists Urge Swift to be Accountable Over Jet Flights
With Swift still continuing her Eras Tour, environmental experts urge the singer to take responsibility for her flights and help lower carbon pollution.
To her credit, Swift has been reported to have invested in carbon offsets for other entities to reduce their emissions or plant enough trees to balance their harmful impact on the environment.
