Each season of the "Bridgerton" series followed the life of one of the siblings. First, it was Daphne, followed by Anthony, and now the show will be focusing more on Colin. Despite that, it appears as though we will be seeing a shift in the second-oldest Bridgerton, Benedict.
Colin Actor Says Benedict's Arc Will Shift
The third season of the Regency-era show cannot come soon enough, and fans might have something more to be interested in after the actor behind Colin Bridgerton, Luke Newton, teased that we might be in for a more exciting story for Benedict.
According to Newton, Benedict's storyline this season is "one that fans are going to be really interested in." The last time we saw the character, he was crushed upon learning that his acceptance to the Royal Academy had been tainted by Anthony's donation.
Thinking that it might be the only reason he was accepted in the first place, he decided to give up his passion for the arts, leaving us with uncertainty as to how his future would be. This seemed like a messy ending for the Bridgerton brother that needed to be resolved first.
With that said, following the story of Colin and Penelope first would give Benedict the time to figure things out and grow as a character before he ventures into the search for a companion, and eventually, his marriage to Sophie Beckett, as per Screen Rant.
Fans might also be more interested in the story of Penelope right now, especially with how the second season ended. Now that Eloise knows about Lady Whistledown, Penelope's story has more heat that can be tackled in the most exciting ways.
Bridgerton Season 3
It's still going to be a while before the release of the third season of "Bridgerton," which is set for May 16th this year. As mentioned before, it will mainly focus on the story of Penelope and Colin, which could get ugly before it develops into romance.
As you know, the Featherington wallflower, unfortunately, heard Colin say that he would never court her during the Featherington ball, no less. Penelope even confronted Colin about it, as shown in one of the released teasers.
You might also be glad to know that Penelope will not be putting her pen down and will continue writing as Lady Whistledown. "You thought I was silenced. But you thought wrong," narrated in another teaser for the third season.
The "Bridgerton" book series' author, Julia Quinn is excited to bring to life the scene where Penelope helps Colin dress his bleeding hand, as it "forces them to be closer to each other than they normally are."
Several familiar characters will also be returning such as Queen Charlotte, Lady Danbury, Violet Bridgerton, Francesca Bridgerton, Kate Sharma, Portia Featherington, and the younger Bridgerton siblings like Hyacinth and Gregory.
Netflix's "Bridgerton" will also be introducing three new characters with Daniel Francis will play Marcus Anderson, James Phoon as Harry Dankworth, and Sam Phillips as Lord Debling, which will take on the role of a suitor for Penelope.
