Displace launched its wireless 27-inch TV called Displace Mini, which is designed for kitchen and bathroom spaces, during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024.
The company also teased that the device will have an AI-powered shopping engine that will be enjoyed by its users.
Displace Features Wireless TV to Revamp Home Spaces
Last year, the startup hardware company introduced its 55-inch wireless 4k OLED TV called Displace Flex. The $3,000 TV can be stuck to walls, eliminating the need for a traditional mounting.
During the MWC, the company revealed a smaller version of the previous design that comes in a 27-inch display size. In a press release, the company stated that Displace Mini is super lightweight, weighing only 12 lbs with two external batteries.
The smaller wireless TV is intended to provide screentime on kitchen countertops, refrigerators, windows, and even bathrooms. It also promises a month of battery life with an average viewing time of six hours per day.
Displace Boasts Special AI Features for Wireless TVs
According to the company, the Displace devices have built-in thermal cameras that could potentially be used for health tracking. The thermal cameras can generate body heat maps which could be used on apps like telehealth.
It would also feature payment readers that would be useful in boosting the shopping experience through TVs.
"Consumers raise their hand to pause the video and automatically see relevant products to buy, place the desired items in their universal cart, then bring their phones near the TV or pay via the Displace app without worrying about sharing personal information or credit card numbers," the company explained.
CEO and founder Balaji Krishnan stated that the company's goal is to go beyond entertainment by providing smart contextual experiences that could meet the needs of its users.
The pre-ordered Displace devices are expected to start shipping by mid-year.
