Apple Reveals M3 Chip-Powered MacBook Air on 13-Inch, 15-inch Models

Apple has unveiled the new MacBook Air with M3 chip on 13-inch and 15-inch models.

The M3 chip-powered MacBook Air models promise to be 60% faster than models with the M1 chip and are compatible with AI-related works.

MacBook Air Models With M3 Chip Specs

According to Apple, consumers prefer MacBook Air due to its portable design. Despite its lightness, the models have up to 18 hours of battery life, a Liquid Retina display, two external display support and faster Wi-Fi.

"MacBook Air is our most popular and loved Mac, with more customers choosing it over any other laptop. And today it gets even better with the M3 chip and new capabilities," Apple's SVP of worldwide marketing, Greg Joswiak, stated.

The M3 chip allows the MacBook Air laptops to run high-quality game titles, enhance images with AI, work with Excel spreadsheets, edit videos using Final Cut Pro and more. Features used for video conferencing and presentation, such as the 1080p Facetime HD camera, three-mic array and Spatial Audio support with Dolby Atmos are also present.

Apple Advertises M3 MacBook Air for AI Work

Apple is now embracing the world of AI by explicitly promoting its MacBook Air models as the "best consumer laptop for AI." The company shared that the M3 chip is equipped with a 16-core Neural Engine, which allows accelerations for on-device machine learning.

MacBook Air users can utilize various advanced AI features suitable for their needs.

"Users can do everything from checking their homework with AI Math Assistance in Goodnotes 6, to automatically enhancing photos in Pixelmator Pro, to removing background noise from a video using CapCut," Apple wrote.

In addition, Apple boasted that the new MacBook Air can run optimized AI models, LLMs and diffusion models. The new laptops will allow users to run powerful productivity and creativity tools using AI like Microsoft Copilot, Microsoft 365, Canva and Adobe Firefly.

The 13-inch M3 MacBook Air starts at $1,099, while the 15-inch model starts at $1,299. Both models are available in the same colors as the M2 laptops.
