Warner Bros.' Multiversus Set for a Relaunch on May 2024, Includes New PvE Mode

Warner Bros.' platform fighting game Multiversus is heading up for a relaunch on May 28, with all new game modes and improved graphics, nearly a year since its first version went offline last June.

In a developer update video on Monday, Player First Games CEO Tony Huynh announced that the revamped Multiversus has been built up from Unreal Engine 5 to "improve the game's visuals and character lighting."

This means both and new playable characters from Warner Bros.'s wide array of franchises will all have better looks and motion than the previous version.

Multiversus Devs: Expect New Playable Characters, Arenas, and Game Modes

Huynh promised that players can expect "consistent game performance, no matter what platform you're playing on."

The CEO did not confirm any new characters on the video but hinted that it will be "adding some really exciting, brand-new personalities to the roster."

This is in addition to new arenas, new combat mechanics, and even possible new game modes, including a Player vs Environment mode, like with the more popular Super Smash Bros. franchise.

The new Multiversus will be available on PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X, S, Xbox One, and PC with full cross-play and cross-progression support, according to IGN.

More information is expected to be released in the coming weeks ahead of the relaunch date.

Warner Bros. Seeks to Revive Live-Service Games

The announcement for the relaunch of Multiversus came in as Warner Bros. said that it will be focusing on live-service and free-to-play games from its established properties and franchises.

The game publisher pulled Multiversus from all digital stores back in March and later put offline after launching microtransactions, battle passes, and DLC characters.

Multiversus is considered to be Warner Bros.' most successful game launch on Steam after Hogwarts Legacy.

Players can expect that the revamped game will also feature the same amount, if not more, microtransactions on the fighter game.
