GOG Games Partners With Amazon Luna Bringing Cloud-Supported Games

GOG, a PC gaming storefront, announced its collaboration with Amazon Luna, allowing games to be played in the cloud.

Amazon Luna was launched by Amazon as a cloud gaming service in 2022 which initially catered to the U.S. and eventually expanded to Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain.

GOG Makes Gaming Easier Through Luna Cloud Streaming

In a blog post, GOG detailed the partnership with Amazon Luna, citing that gaming will be easier across devices.

"Whether your current gaming rig isn't powerful enough to handle the latest release, you're often away from home and still want to play, or you just sometimes want to change your environment while keeping playing - Luna is the perfect solution in all those scenarios," the company wrote.

From smartphones to smart TVs, players can now use them as their gaming devices. Luna also supports consoles like Xbox One and PlayStation 4 controllers. Players can also use the Luna controller for a more seamless transition.

The partnership enabled players to play every game that they own from GOG or Luna which will all be saved into their GOG library. All the DRM-free benefits will remain along with the cloud saves and achievements.

GOG Collaboration Opens to Amazon Prime, Luna+ Subscribers

In Luna's announcement, Amazon shared that owned GOG games will be available to play as long as they are members of Prime and subscribers of Luna+.

"Customers will be able to play GOG games they already own and purchase games to play on Luna compatible devices, including Amazon Fire TV and Fire Tablet devices, select Samsung and LG smart TVs, mobile devices (iOS and Android), and desktop devices (PCs, MacBooks, Chromebooks)," Luna explained.

GOG games that will be purchased through Luna will have a traditional game license, allowing users to play the games on Luna. In addition, the games can also be played offline using the GOG PC launcher.
