Gamers invest a lot in their PC equipment to have the best experience in gameplay. Other than the PC components, there are also accessories to think about. You'll have to choose between wired and wireless when it comes to keyboards and mice. Wireless seems like the best option, but there are factors you need to understand first.
Advantages of a Wireless Mouse
1. There are no pesky wires. It goes without saying that you won't have to worry about wires, which can be bothersome for some people. With all the accessories attached to your PC, having one less could help, especially since the mouse wire will be laid across your PC table.
2. You'll have unrestricted movement. Wires mean that there's only a certain distance your mouse can move in, which lessens the flexibility you might need in gaming. It can get caught on all the other wires connected to your PC as well, which would be a hassle to untangle.
3. You can bring it anywhere. Technically, you can bring wired mice anywhere as well, but it's much easier to pack and carry wireless mice around. Plus, you can use it from a distance, depending on the strength of its wireless connection.
4. It looks aesthetically better. Wires aren't annoying because they can sometimes get in the way, but they're also an eyesore for people who are big on cord organizing. There are already enough wires coming out of the PC, so you might as well reduce them if you can help it.
5. The mouse will be less prone to damage. Not having a wire is one less thing to worry about when prolonging the life of your mouse. The wires getting pinched or tangled can easily loosen them, not to mention the possibility of the wire accidentally breaking due to outside factors.
Disadvantages of a Wireless Mouse
1. You'll have to recharge it. Seeing as there is no wire to connect it to a power source, it will need one on its own, specifically a battery. Unfortunately for you, no one has found a way to make batteries have unlimited power, so you'll have to charge it often, depending on how much you use it.
2. It could cause input lag. This is a very significant factor for gamers, especially if reaction time plays a huge part in winning a game. Since it is wireless, you might experience delays in the movement of the pointer.
3. They cost more. Since you'll also be paying for convenience, a wireless mouse will usually cost more than wired options. Plus, you'll want to invest in your mouse, since cheaper brands might not be of good quality enough for good gameplay.
4. The connection might have issues. There a a lot of ways a wireless mouse can fail such as input lag, interference from other devices, a weak receiver, low battery levels, or even being too far from the receiver.
5. They might be heavier in weight. Given that you also have to account for the weight of the battery and the build to be able to get power from those batteries, the mouse might be heavier. This isn't much of an issue since you'll only drag it around, but even the smallest things can affect how you use it.
