Helldivers 2 CEO Addresses Bug Fixes Amidst Player Complaints

Helldivers 2 has been out for a while, but it unfortunately still has a few bugs (not the Terminids kind) that are frustrating players. As complaints are voiced out on subreddits and Discord servers, the studio's CEO addressed the matter.

Issuing Fixes and Adding Content

The game is easily one of the best releases this year so far, and that has been evident by the abundance of memes and concurrent players on Steam alone. Still, it would be much better if players didn't have to deal with bugs that can ruin the experience.

Developers and even the Arrowhead Games Studios CEO Johan Pilestedt have been monitoring and replying to some of the posts regarding the game on Discord and Reddit, even those who believe that the devs should focus on fixes for now instead of adding content.

Pilestedt said that it wasn't an option and said: "We want to deliver the best in the industry and we are calibrating our efforts of fixing vs new stuff. It's easy to say 'just fix, don't add,' but the reality of the competitiveness in this industry is that we have to do both to stay relevant."

The problem is that Arrowhead is not like the other studios that have extensive resources to do both. The studio is comprised of a small number of people, as mentioned in Kotaku, and fixing the bugs alone can already take up a lot of manpower.

Even with the work cut out for the studio, they still manage to release new content such as general missions and new Premium Warbonds. So far, there are already three that one can unlock such as the Steeled Veterans, Cutting Edge, and Democratic Detonation.

As to why this is important, there's only so much a player can do once they achieve almost everything in the game from unlocking all the stratagems to fully upgrading the ship. The only thing left would be to grind for medals and Super Credits.

With the collected currencies, players can expand their inventory of armor, primary weapons, secondary weapons, emotes, and more. Without new content, Helldivers 2 can become old and repetitive very quickly and players would lose interest.

What the Devs Will Never Add

As far as new content goes, there is one thing that players have suggested by the studio will never entertain. Pilestedt has responded to requests saying that the game should have a transmogrification, allowing players to change the appearance of their armor without affecting stats.

The Arrowhead CEO said that there's no point in it since "equipment looks different because it has different effects. Swapping one for the other is like having an apple that tastes like bacon or the other way around," as mentioned in PC Gamer.

However, it certainly is something that can be included in the future. It won't affect other players since Helldivers 2 is a PvE game, and anyone can look their best as they battle Terminids and Automatons for the sake of managed democracy.
