Baldur's Gate 3 Dev Teases Upcoming Projects

Larian Studios, Baldur's Gate 3 developer, confirmed that the company is currently working on two more games.

A recent Steam post revealed that their team is currently developing the projects which are all based on original IPs.

Larian Studios Shares Future Plans With Original IPs

In a post, Larian shared the current progress on the upcoming Baldur's Gate 3 update. Along with the plans for its greatest hit, the studio also shared some plans outside the popular gaming franchise.

"After six years in the Forgotten Realms and much discussion and rumination, we've decided to seize this opportunity to develop our own IPs," a company representative wrote.

Currently, both projects are still in their early stages of development so there is nothing much to share. However, the studio assured its fans that it would share more details once the projects made more progress.

Meanwhile, some fans are speculating that the upcoming games could be RPGs. The rumors are based on the company's track record which reflects seven out of nine titles are RPGs.

Larian Studios Celebrates Baldur's Gate 3 Success

The studio is still reeling from Baldur's Gate 3's success from 2023. The game, which is the third main installment from the franchise, quickly gained popularity due to its high-quality gameplay, narrative, and visuals.

Baldur's Gate 3 impressive performance won result to Game of the Year awards, becoming the first game to take all top trophies from five major gaming ceremonies. The game was highly regarded by The Game Awards, the British Academy Games Awards, and more.

The recent community update revealed that Larian is firm on not giving Baldur's Gate 3 any kind of paid post-launch content or sequel. Meanwhile, the studio will be stepping back from the Baldur's Gate 4 plans by Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast.
