YouTube TV Introduces Multiview on Android

9to5Google reported that Multiview will be available on Android phones and tablets, allowing users to watch up to four pre-selected livestreams. The feature will work on any device as the pressure will be on YouTube's servers and not on the device type.

Multiview will gradually improve over time but the feature will initially be available to sports content. YouTube will be using its existing live-streaming processing to offer an enhanced viewing experience to its users.

Build a Multiview was announced previously giving users a chance to watch multiple games at once on the same display. YouTube TV has already expanded the feature by adding a few non-sports selections, NFL Sunday Ticket, and soon the NBA League Pass.

How YouTube TV Multiview Works

Users can test the Multiview feature in the "Home" tab for Android devices. They will be given an option to choose which stream will provide the audio output. Meanwhile, other games will play on mute but will remain visible for observation.

Recently, YouTube partnered with Coachella and introduced the multiview feature for its livestream. The music festival is known for live streaming six different stages at the same time, making it the best example to test the multiview feature.

The feature functioned the same as it would for sports content, which allowed viewers to enjoy the show on up to four stages while having the freedom to listen to the audio of their choice.

The feature has already started to be released to users with YouTube TV for Android version 8.17. The grid view is already available on iPhones and iPads for iOS users to try.
