Airbnb launched Icons as a new rental category that offers extraordinary hosting experiences inspired by various pop culture elements.
The staycation rental company introduced the first 11 Icons that will be opened around the globe throughout the year.
Airbnb Promises Extraordinary Rentals With Icons
In a blog post, co-founder and CEO Brian Chesky unveiled a new rental experience for people who are up for an extraordinary staycation. "As life becomes increasingly digital, we're focused on bringing more magic into the real world. With Icons, we've created the most extraordinary experiences on Earth," he added.
Among the 11 icons is the house from Disney and Pixar's "Up" that floats in Abiquiu, New Mexico. The iconic house from the movie was recreated from exterior to interior, including over 8,000 balloons.
The "X-Men'97" fans can also rent a 2D animated recreation of the X-Mansion in Westchester, New York which features a Danger Room. In Maranello, Italy, renters can spend a night in the Ferrari Museum with a bed designed with the same leather as Ferrari seats.
Other Icons include a VIP experience with Kevin Hart, a night at the Musée d'Orsay, a Doja Cat live session, and Prince's purple rain house. Customers can also try an overnight gaming experience with Khaby Lame, go on tour with Feid, learn from Janhvi Kapoor, and stay at "Inside Out" Headquarters.
How Airbnb Icons Works
According to Airbnb the Icons has their own spot on the homepage. A countdown will be shown to keep track of Icons that are about to go live. Once it's live, guests can request to book using the app.
The selected guest will receive a golden ticket. Airbnb revealed that more than 4,000 tickets will be available for this year. Icons are priced under $100 per guest and most of them are free.
Each Icon will feature the expected activities waiting for the guests if they receive the golden ticket.
