Sega announced that a new racing game, Sonic Rumble, is coming to iOS and Android featuring Sonic The Hedgehog and other major characters from the series.
The 32-player race portrays winner-takes-all gameplay wherein gamers will race on various levels and must face elimination.
Sonic Rumble Gives Off Fall Guys Vibe
The format of the game would be quite familiar to people who have played Mediatonic's Fall Guys, which has been popular for years now. In an X post, the franchise revealed the first trailer for the upcoming mobile game.
Familiar and classic characters from the franchise will be added to the game. Players can also customize their characters by collecting rings. Each level will have a randomized obstacle and challenges that could help determine which will win the race.
The game is set in a world created by Sonic's antagonist, Dr. Eggman. "In Sonic Rumble, players will take control of toy figures to compete in thrilling 32-player battle royale challenges, racing against each other to collect the most rings and prove themselves to be the fastest in the toybox," Sega shared.
Sonic Rumble's Release on iOS, Android
The game is slated to be released both on iOS and Android devices. As of writing, there is no specific date for its arrival. According to the trailer, it will be available "this winter."
While waiting for its public release, Sega opened a recruitment for closed beta testers. The registration will start on May 19 while the test period will commence on May 24 and will end on May 26.
The game studio also released the complete schedule for each session. The multiplayer gameplay will be assessed based on the separate play times on multiple time slots.
