Spotify Mix Available on App, Desktop
Spotify Mix will officially replace the current font that is used in the in-app and desktop versions, starting today. The font will gradually roll out to every written content on the platform that uses Latin-based scripts and Vietnamese.
The company collaborated with Dinamo Typefaces, a Berlin-based company, to develop the exclusive font. Spotify mix is a sans-serif typeface that shows a distinct blend of classic and contemporary styles.
"The combination of sharp angles and smooth curves gives the typeface a distinctive character that feels quintessentially Spotify," said Rasmus Wängelin, Global Head of Brand Design at Spotify.
Spotify Evolves Audio Experience With New Font
Spotify Mix will be used on playlists, marketing campaigns, and more. The company shared that the vision for the bespoke font is to reflect the "vibrancy" of the community.
The exclusive font will make its special event appearance at Spotify Beach during the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity on June 17. Users who wish to check the font can check it on the For the Record website.
Spotify Mix will effectively replace the Circular typeface variant that the company has been using across its app and desktop experiences for years. The new font also creates creative flexibility for creators and artists, especially when working on their promotional covers.
The wordmark portion of the Spotify logo will be updated to the new typeface. Users can expect the changes to reflect on their accounts over the coming weeks.
