Google announced its PayPal support for Wear OS for smartwatch users in the U.S. and Germany, allowing secure payments without needing a smartphone.
Previously, Google Wallet support for PayPal was only available for phones.
Google Wallet Adds PayPal on Smartwatch
In a blog post, Google shared seven new updates across its services and devices, including the PayPal integration for Wear OS. "Pay for your morning coffee and other everyday favorites without needing to pull your phone out of your pocket," the company wrote.
Google Home also rolled out today its Favorite Android widget and Wear OS Tile, wherein users can create their custom layout on the home screen. The company also confirmed that it has added another layer of security for contactless payments.
Smartwatch wearers can now link their PayPal accounts to Google Wallet and verify the watch's authorization to complete transactions. Meanwhile, users will be prompted to confirm their identity through various verification except transit fares.
Google Launches Digital Car Key on MINI Models
Google also released a digital car key for MINI models. The company revealed its plans to expand the feature to select Mercedes-Benz and Polestar vehicles.
The digital car key will be used to lock, unlock, and start the car using the phone. Users can also share their digital car keys with their family and friends to eliminate the need for a physical key.
Other Android updates include access to control Google Home devices from the home screen, Emoji Kitchen for combining emojis via Gboard and editing RCS messages after sending them, and more.
Google is expected to expand the new features in the coming months while other AI-powered tools might be launched across its ecosystem.
