Monster Hunter Wilds Unveils Gameplay, Environment Ahead of 2025 Release

Capcom revealed a new trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds during the State of Play stream, along with other upcoming titles for PlayStation 5 in 2025.

The game was first announced during The Game Awards 2023, which also confirmed its arrival to PS5, Xbox, and PC.

Monster Hunter Wilds Reveals Environment, Monsters

In a blog post, Capcom highlighted the changing environments of the game. For instance, the Windward Plains will feature various unique areas despite its sandy nature, along with some grasslands and rock formations.

Moreover, wild monsters are expected to act differently in such harsh environments. Players will take the role of a hunter and they must interact with various monsters living in nature.

Some of the monsters revealed are the fanged beast Doshaguma, the amphibian Chatacabra, an herbivore Ceratonoth and Dalthydon, and a new mount called Seikret.

"You'll be able to use certain items and even your slinger while on the move, allowing you to recover your health, sharpen your weapon, or even gather materials all from the safety of your Seikret," Capcom explained.

Capcom Releases Weapon Types on Monster Hunter Wilds

Fans will have to explore the collection of 14 iconic weapons that will be vital in their exploration. Players can choose between the Great Sword, Long Sword, Sword & Shield, Dual Blades, Hammer, Hunting Horn, Lance, Gunlance, Switch Axe, Charge Blade, Insect Glaive, Light Bowgun, Heavy Bowgun, and Bow.

While some of the weapons are already familiar with the existing series, Capcom shared that it added new actions for each weapon type. Some of the key characters were also introduced like The Hunter, Palico, Alma, Gemma, and Nata.

Gamers with existing save data from other titles like Monster Hunter: World and Monster Hunter World: Iceborne on PlayStation can receive special bonuses for the new game.
