Best Buy Cuts Off Samsung Repair Program

In a Geek Squad subreddit thread, it was revealed that the company will be leaving the program. Several workers from Best Buy also confirmed the news. A screenshot provided by a Geek Squad employee showed that "Samsung ASP is ending in all SASP locations."

According to the announcement, employees will be receiving reduced scheduled appointments. However, some will still be able to continue repairs until further instruction is provided.

For now, ASP employees are tasked to organize their parts. It must be properly labeled with ESD packaging and ready for send-off. Another announcement will be posted for the schedule of sending back parts.

Samsung ASP Program Offered Certified Repair to Devices

The SASP program was launched to ensure that all technicians in authorized locations, like Best Buy stores, are certified to repair Samsung devices. The exclusive repair program only used genuine Samsung parts, tools, and training.

While selected stores were part of the program, customers could easily identify a store near them if they scheduled a repair. As of writing, the Best Buy page is now available when searching for the repair program.

Previously, iFixit also ended its contract with Samsung. The company shared that it was due to "Samsung's approach to repairability does not align with our mission." The expensive price of the genuine parts also played a role in the decision.

The repair company assured its customers that the failed negotiation would not affect their overall service. As for Best Buy, the retail store has yet to officially announce it is shutting down its ASP program.
