GOG is Deleting Exceeding Files Starting September

In a blog post, GOG announced that the platform will be implementing a cloud save limit of 200MB per game. Any exceeding files will be deleted after August 31.

"Please review them to avoid the loss of files stored within your cloud saves available via GOG Galaxy," the company wrote. Gamers are given the option to store locally on their computers as it will not be affected.

GOG detailed that there is an increasing demand for cloud storage as the number of games increases over the years. The company is implementing a limit to ensure that all players will have sufficient amount and space for their games.

Recent games often consume bigger storage. This includes popular games like Baldur's Gate 3, Skyrim, Fallout 4, and more. On the other side, older games are safer to this limit as they usually hold little space.

GOG Instructs Gamers to Back Up Files Before August Ends

To assist gamers, GOG reminded that players who use GOG Galaxy to download, update, and play their games are automatically counted to the Cloud Saves feature. Gamers can start storing locally on their computers to prevent any hassle.

Moreover, they can also back up their Cloud Saves directly in GOG Galaxy. Players can select any game from their library and click on "Extras." A "Cloud Saves Backup" option will appear, allowing the gamer to download their saved data.

Once done, gamers can log in to GOG and open their Cloud Saves Management. They can regularly review their saved data and delete files or old saves to prevent consuming too much space.
