Samsung's newest AI-powered laptop seems to have several notable performance and compatibility issues with existing PC software.
First reported by The Wall Street Journal, the Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Edge was found unable to install Adobe apps and other video game programs like League of Legends and Fortnite.
Samsung has already listed all other incompatible apps with its Microsoft Copilot-powered laptop following its global release on Tuesday, although the notice is currently only in the Korean language.
Samsung claimed the compatibility issues as a result of "operational conditions" between Windows 11 Arm and Qualcomm's Snapdragon processor.
The phone maker promised to ask "app developers for improvements" as it provides continual updates to affected customers.
The Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Edge is among the first wave of laptops receiving the dedicated Copilot keyboard key as Microsoft partners with manufacturers for its AI laptop goal.
Samsung Plans to Bring More AI-Powered Features Across Laptops, Smartphones
The Galaxy Book 4 Edge is not the only Samsung device the company plans to introduce its AI features this year as it fully embraces the innovations and dangers of the technology.
Samsung has earlier unveiled its "AI for All" vision during the 2024 CES convention to provide users to "experience their devices more intuitively and conveniently than ever before."
To do so, the company has been increasing its deals with AI firms and hardware manufacturers, including Microsoft and Qualcomm, to handle all the processing requirements needed for its AI features.
So far, other Samsung AI-integrated devices have exhibited similar compatibility issues similar to the Galaxy Book 4 Edge's case.
More AI PCs Coming in the Future
Despite current setbacks in this year's rollouts, the tech industry projected that AI-powered computers would soon dominate the market as the technology becomes more widespread.
Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger even expected that at least 80% of computers by 2028 will be AI PCs if the current pace of AI development continues in the next four years.
At its current rate, over 100 million AI PCs are already set to ship globally in 2025, or 40% of total PC shipments.
