Google Confirms Removal of Continuous Scroll for Search

In a statement, a Google spokesperson confirmed that the feature will be effectively removed for desktop users starting June 25. Previously, Google Search implemented an infinite scroll for its results.

Google stated that the change will allow the company to provide faster results on more searches, instead of automatically loading results. Moreover, the company also revealed that the infinite scrolling did not guarantee a higher satisfaction rate with the search engine.

Desktop users will now see a pagination bar at the footer of the Google Search results. It will be used to navigate from different page numbers. Meanwhile, a "More Results" button will appear for mobile searches.

Google Plans Improved Search Results on Engine

Google first introduced the feature to mobile last 2021 which was followed by a debut in desktop web by 2022. During its launch, the company shared that the feature will allow users to see up to six pages of results in one go.

However, Google reported that giving people 10 results per page is faster than supplying endless options with the infinite scroll feature. There is also no guarantee that people will find what they are looking for while scrolling.

Some experts weighing on the changes as websites from page two and so on might soon see fewer clicks on their website. The feature will now depend on how a user utilizes the search engine. There is also an Advanced Search feature that will allow users to narrow down their results.
