Google Might Move its New Pixel Phone Announcement to August

Google seems to be moving its announcement date for the new Pixel phone series to Aug. 13, rather than October, following the release of this year's schedule for the "Made by Google" event.

According to The Verge, the early announcement of the annual Google-led hardware launch event may indicate that the tech giant is already set to release the much-awaited Pixel 9 series.

The event's promises to show "the best of Google AI, Android software, and the Pixel portfolio of devices" only serve as further proof that a new Pixel device is coming.

This is not to mention the recent trade-in value hikes for Pixel 6 and 7 Pro to switch to Pixel 8 Pro, a sales strategy many phone manufacturers like Apple often do when their next devices are set to release soon.

Then the teaser video, displaying a phone with the "IX" mark from the Pixel name, after the new event date announcement basically confirms all suspicions.

Why is Google Hosting its Device Showcase Event Earlier?

Google usually holds its "Made by Google" event showcase in the last week of October, marking the first time the company will be hosting the annual event less than a year from its last.

The shorter interval in-between this year and the last follows Google's earlier moves during the I/O conference to introduce its revamped Gemini AI across all services and products.

There is also the company's recent attitude to keep further ahead of its competition amid the tech industry's race to produce new AI technology.

Google Pixel 9: What to Expect?

Earlier leaks have already hinted that the Pixel 9 series will be a bit smaller than the previous Pixel 8 phones in exchange for clearer pixel resolution 2400 x 1080 pixels, 431 PPI.

For its software improvements, the new Pixel phone is rumored to have a much more powerful and immersive visual display thanks to its Google Tensor G4 SoC hardware.

Of course, many of the new and revamped features are expected to receive the AI makeover as the company continues to push for its Gemini chatbot to users.
