Meta Tests AI Chatbots on Instagram

In a broadcast channel update, Zuckerberg shared that the chatbots will start its early test among 50 content creators in the U.S. The AIs will primarily appear in the messaging portion of the app and will be labeled as AI to inform users.

"It's early days and the first beta version of these AIs, so we'll keep working on improving them and make them available to more people soon," Zuckerberg added.

The new feature will allow creators to interact and continuously engage with fans even if they are flooded with messages. Meta revealed that it will also be available to a small percentage of users and will gradually increase in the following months.

The company is targeting to fully launch the feature to all users in August. In the meantime, the early test will gather feedback from users to improve the model before it is released.

Meta Actively Pursues AI Integration on Social Media Apps

Last year, Meta introduced its AI Studio, a platform that allows businesses to develop AI chatbots that can utilized on Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger. The platform is designed to align AI with the brand's values and improve its customer service.

Zuckerberg shared that the company has been working closely with creators by gathering enough data to create accurate and authentic responses.

The first look at the feature showed that an AI-labeled conversation will be opened and a follower can ask questions to the creator's AI version.

Meta is also developing ways that will allow its users to create AI characters that are not necessarily based on their real selves. The company will continue to release experimental AI tools to gather feedback before rolling them out to the public.
