'Fallout' Takes 16 Emmy Nominations for Season 1

Amazon's live adaptation of the popular Bethesda franchise became one of the most well-received series on the platform. The show was so popular that it managed to revive the gaming sales of the franchise almost a decade after they were released.

The show gained 16 nods from The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The nominations include Best Drama, Best Actor for Drama (Walton Goggins), and Best Writing for Drama.

The first season focused on the history of the vaults and how the city became a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Ella Purnell, who played the protagonist, Lucy, shot to popularity due to her performance along with Goggins as The Ghoul. Show writers Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner are also credited for their craftsmanship for the first season.

Emmys Recognize Streaming's Original Series

One of the notable commonalities in the nominees list is the huge presence of TV series that were originally created for streaming platforms.

For instance, Hulu's comedy-mystery series "Only Murders in the Building" received 21 nominations from Best Comedy to Comedy Guest Actress. Likewise, FX's "Shogun" and "The Bear" are both competing with 25 and 23 nominations, respectively.

Netflix's "The Crown" sealed 18 nominations for its final season, including Best Drama, Best Actor, Best Directing, Best Writing, and more.

Netflix received the most nominations with 107 among any other platforms. Apple TV+ came in second with 70, Hulu with 26, and Disney+ with 19.
