Netflix to Add 'Squid Game' on Gaming Library

During the company's quarterly earnings update, Netflix revealed that it will release a new multiplayer game to its expanding catalog. The release date will be at the same time as the premiere of the second season to further hype the game.

As of writing, the streaming giant has yet to release the specific gameplay details. There is a huge chance that it would recreate the children's games that were featured on the show which was used as a survival tool by players.

The show's popularity in 2021 quickly escalated into an international sensation. Netflix launched a virtual reality version and in-person pop-up experience in Los Angeles of the show. The company also produced a reality TV show "Squid Game: The Challenge."

'Squid Game' Fans Awaits Season 2 Release

Netflix has yet to announce the official release date for the second season. So far, reports suggested that the hit series is slated to return in December.

Last year, the production confirmed that it has started filming for the next season. The shoot began last July 2023 and is estimated to be nearly complete at the moment.

Rumors about the possibility of a third season are still surfacing due to the lack of detail from Netflix. Creator Hwang Dong-Hyuk hinted that dead characters might return through flashbacks.

Season 2 will focus on Seong-Gi's mission to identify the people behind the games and to dismantle the organization that funds them. A backstory to the origin of the survival game might also be uncovered.
