Apple to Introduce M4 Chips on Most Devices Within the Year

Last October, Apple launched its M3-powered MacBook Pro and iMac models during the Scary Fast event. Most of the hardware features remained the same but the devices had a minor improvement in performance rate.

The M4 chip was first introduced in May on iPad Pro. The next launch event is expected to introduce the latest chip on MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, and iMac. There is also an expectation that the 24-inch iMac could come with USB-C accessories along with its new chip.

The Mac mini could experience the biggest upgrade this year after Apple skipped it for the M3 series. The recent models are still with the M2 Pro chip with only a minor refresh.

Apple Teases M4 Capabilities With iPad Pro First

Apple decided to first launch its most recent chip, M4, on its iPad Pro lineup. The latest chip technology gave the device four times faster performance than the popular M2 chip.

With the upcoming introduction of M4 chips to Apple's laptop and desktop devices, it is expected to be compatible with accelerated heavy gaming and design apps. The M4 chip in iPad Pro features a 10-core CPU and improved GPU.

Apple Intelligence could also play an important selling point to these devices. The M4 is currently hosted by the most powerful Neural Engine that is compatible with running AI features.

More details are expected to be released after the announcement of the iPhone 16 lineup.
