Earlier this year, YouTube Music tested an artificial intelligence (AI) radio that aims to create new stations for users to listen to. It has now been revealed that this AI is called AI Music.

This feature is a prompt-based experience, and users need to directly ask the AI tool to create a custom station based on the theme or mood they are trying to set. 

Ask Music is YouTube Music's AI Radio Generator

The latest report from 9to5Google details the new name of YouTube Music's AI radio generator, now called Ask Music, which is now live on platform. As of press time, the rollout is limited to users in the United States, but it has been revealed that the rollout for international subscribers is on its way.  

Ask Music will be the tool to go to if you are a fan of radio stations on music streaming platforms that offer a variety of songs and new tracks to discover and listen to. According to the reprot, the tool also features Gemini AI's sparkle or star icon, which suggests that it is powering this new experience. 

YouTube Music now shows a pop-up message that introduces Ask Music and invites the public to try its features. For those who have yet to see this pop-up, do not worry as this tool is coming to your app.

YouTube Music's AI Generates Top Hits For You

For users who have ignored the pop-up but want to try the new YouTube Music feature, all you have to do is head over to the homepage of the app and look for the Ask Music card or banner in purple. Clicking it will take users to the feature's full-screen chatbox, which will then guide users through the process. 

There is a need for users to enter prompts that will serve as the basis for their radio station. A variety of genres, moods, and themes are allowed.

In addition, there is also a "Surprise me!" suggested prompt, which will let the AI create a station on its own.

YouTube Music and Google's AI Features

YouTube Music is a music and podcast streaming platform by Google. The launch of its popular generative AI, Gemini, has allowed for various features and upgrades to be added to the platform.

An example of this is the capacity to generate new playlist art using AI that creates on based on user requests.
