Nintendo Switch 2 Leak Shows Renders, Specs—Is This the Real Deal or a Fake?

A new leak involving the Nintendo Switch 2 has hit the internet, and many are now debating whether or not it is the real deal or just a fake one. This is because the leak claims to be showing the prototype of the gaming console.

Should the images be legitimate, the Switch 2 will remain as a hybrid console that one can bring anywhere as it retains its portable design. Users, however, may choose to enjoy it as a tabletop console via its dock.

In this set of new images, the Switch 2 is shown to feature a larger touch-screen, but it remains unknown if it is an OLED.

Previously, a leak claiming to show new Joy-Con colors, pricing, and date of production for the Switch 2 hit the internet. Now, a new leak has emerged, which reportedly came from Chinese factory workers. Their latest uploads were shared on a Chinese social forum website, Baidu, and it has since blown up other social networks like Reddit.

The latest leaked images share crucial information about the Switch 2, and they focus on alleged various renders of the console and Joy-Cons. These renders show some changes, including how the main device of the Switch 2 is much larger than the Switch OLED version. The Switch OLED version is currently the largest model at eight inches.

In addition, the leaked images show that the Joy-Cons will now magnetically attach to the console and it will have a new LED placement. There is a new button behind it, but it may only be for detaching the controllers from the body.

These new leaks also show that the Switch 2 will allegedly get an additional USB-C port atop the device. A screenshot of the device's specs can be found here.

Is This the Real Switch 2 Render or a Fake?

The alleged new Switch 2 renders also include the console's shell and board in the image, alongside the new Joy-Con's shells.

It has been initially argued by a Redditor that the CAD renders may be fake, but the actual hardware prototypes are real. In a later update, the Redditor's post claimed that the original poster of the leaked images claimed on Famiiboards that they obtained these shell models from an "accessory manufacturer" and later "reverse designed" it on CAD.

Given the amount of leaks and rumors about the Switch 2, Nintendo is now being urged to official reveal the console.

Nintendo Switch 2 is Coming By 2025

Despite the growing interest and excitement for the Switch 2, Nintendo has stayed silent amidst this influx of leaks and rumors.

However, Nintendo did say that the Switch successor can be expected by 2025, which at the very least confirms the console's existence. Despite this confirmation, Nintendo has yet to announce the exact release date for Switch 2.
