Apple is gearing up for the upcoming launch of its improved Siri and Apple Intelligence, and the latest speculations have claimed that the release will happen sooner than expected, particularly for the Cupertino-based tech giant's voice assistant.
However, upon launch, these features will not yet offer the full experience as certain aspects will be gradually released. Each update is expected to bring more capabilities.
Siri with Apple Intelligence is Coming Soon
The latest Power On newsletter by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has detailed the reported release dates expected for Apple's latest tech offerings, which focus on Siri with Apple Intelligence. According to Gurman, the upgraded Siri is coming earlier than expected with iOS 18.1 coming this October as it will reportedly be "internally complete" later this week.
This particular version of Siri reportedly set for release next month will only come with some capabilities, including AI features like Writing Tools, Notification Summaries, and Photos Clean Up.
However, it is important to note that further Siri upgrades promised by Apple are potentially coming in the next updates as iOS 18.2 is expected to feature ChatGPT integration. According to 9to5Mac, the revamped Siri experience is potentially coming with iOS 18.3 which is slated for January 2025.
Apple Intelligence's Rollout Will be Gradual
Gurman has also claimed that Apple's timeline for Apple Intelligence will be following its regular release pattern, starting with iOS 18.1's light update, followed by iOS 18.2, which will be available by December. iOS 18.3, on the other hand, will be available in January 2025, and iOS 18.4 is expected to be ready by March.
The iOS 18.4 version is speculated to bring most of what Apple has to offer as it will be the biggest update after iOS 18.0.
Apple's Newfound Focus on AI
When Apple introduced Apple Intelligence during WWDC 2024, many expected it to arrive alongside iOS 18's first release, which was slated for September, but that was not the case. It remains to be seen if Apple is fully ready for its release or if the company is looking to add more improvements.
However, Apple previously claimed that October will be the month when its foundational model is coming.
Now that the latest iPhone 16 series, a smartphone lineup which is dedicated to running artificial intelligence, is here, many have expected that the AI features will come with these devices. Many have been disappointed that this is not the case.
September is nearing its end, and many are already anticipating the promises of Apple Intelligence's generative AI and overall assistive features.
Despite initially being silent about AI, Apple's focus on Apple Intelligence and other AI-centric features have changed this. However, it seems that users will have to wait quite a while to enjoy the full experience of what Apple's AI technology can offer.
