iOS 7.1.2 to roll out soon with fixes for iMessage, Lock Screen, iBeacon & more

Apple's new iOS 7.1.2 is apparently ready to start rolling out soon, bringing fixes for iMessage, Lock Screen, iBeacon and other issues.

The upcoming software update is expected to fix several issues, including the one related to email attachment encryption and the much-talked-about iMessage issues affecting users who left iOS for another problem and couldn't separate their phone numbers from Apple's messaging platform. Apple said it was working on fixes for both of these issues and would roll them out in a future software update. The new iOS 7.1.2 will come as the first public update to roll out since that promise.

According to a new report from Apple-centric publication Mac Rumors, the company is ready to start rolling out iOS 7.1.2 soon. Apple has reportedly started seeding a version of the firmware - build 11D257 - to carrier partners. The publication further notes that Apple asked carriers to sign off on the update by Friday, June 27. If this turns out to be accurate, a public release of the new iOS 7.1.2 could occur as soon as the following week.

MacRumors has learned from sources that the upcoming iOS 7.1.2 build will indeed fix the email attachment issue, as well as a bug in downloading emails. The lock screen vulnerability that could grant access to "limited apps" will reportedly get a fix as well with the new firmware build.

Moreover, iOS 7.1.2 is also expected to address a bug affecting data transfer with third-party accessories such as bar code scanners, as well as bring improvements to iBeacon connectivity. MacRumors found no explicit mention regarding fixes for the iMessage issues, but the new iOS 7.1.2 build is nonetheless expected to address the problem.

Nothing is confirmed at this point regarding the release of iOS 7.1.2, but the new firmware should arrive soon to address the aforementioned issues. It remains to be seen whether it will indeed roll out in the week following June 27, but July is a pretty safe bet for the public release of iOS 7.1.2. As always, take everything with a grain of salt until Apple makes an official announcement. We'll stay on top of this matter and keep you up to date as soon as we learn more, so stay tuned.
