Blu Products has unveiled its latest smartphone lineup called the Studio C series, which brings Android KitKat to cheap devices available unlocked.
The new Blu Studio C series consists of four new handsets: the Studio 5.0 C HD, the C Mini, the 5.0 C, and the 5.0 CE handsets, which start at $89 and go up to $149.
"BLU is dedicated to continue bringing consumers choice in the way of unlocked smartphones, driven by the demand for affordable quality devices and the freedom of selecting their airtime provider, thus eliminating the dependency of locked devices which the Network Carrier has to offer," Samuel Ohev-Zion, BLU Products CEO, touts in the press release. "We will continue to fundamentally change the mobile industry by making great looking smartphones that can do amazing things, priced for everyone."
The Blu Studio 5.0 CE is the base model with the most affordable price tag, i.e. $89. As the name itself suggests, this handset comes with a 5-inch screen, featuring a FWVGA resolution. Under the hood, the smartphone packs a dual-core MediaTek processor clocked at 1.3GHz, which makes it a pretty good entry-level offering. Other specs include 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage capacity, microSD support for up to 32GB of additional memory, a 3.2-megapixel rear camera, a VGA front shooter, and a 1,800 mAh battery. On the downside, however, the Blu Studio 5.0 CE doesn't support 3G, which means that users will either have to rely on Wi-Fi or settle for a slow EDGE connection.
Next in the lineup is the Blu Studio 5.0 C model, which comes in at $209. This variant is very similar to the CE model, but it does offer some neat improvements such as HSPA+ 21Mbps connectivity and a higher-end 5-megapixel rear camera.
The Blu Studio C Mini, meanwhile, comes in at $119, and offers a slightly smaller 4.7-inch display. This model comes with the same storage and connectivity options as the 5-inch model, but features a faster quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. Other specs include a 5-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front shooter, and a 2,000 mAh battery.
The highest-end model in the lineup is the Blu Studio 5.0 HD, which brings a full HD resolution to the table. This model has a 5-inch 1080p display, a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage capacity, microSD support for up to 64GB of additional storage, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and a 2-megapixel front shooter. A 2,000 mAh battery will keep things up and running, while Android 4.4 KitKat will rock the software side. The Blu Studio 5.0 HD goes up to $149.
