The much-touted Moto 360 smartwatch from Motorola has just leaked online, revealing an intriguing "secret charger" cradle to juice up the gadget.
Motorola's Moto 360 is one of the most highly-anticipated devices of this year and is expected to make its official debut sometime this fall. The Moto 360 will arrive as the third smartwatch to rock Google's new Android Wear platform for wearable devices, joining the likes of the LG G Watch and the Samsung Gear Live. Unlike existing smartwatches, however, the Moto 360 will be the first one to sport a circular form factor rather than a rectangular design.
The latest leaked images allegedly showing the upcoming Motorola Moto 360 come from Italian website Mister Gadget aka. Luca Viscardi (via Android World Italy) and give the world a first glimpse into how users will charge the smartwatch.
Based on the photos, the Moto 360 will be different from most smartwatches out there not only in terms of design, but also when it comes to charging. More specifically, it appears that users will have to place the Moto 360 into a cradle, which will allow them to still look at the device even when it's charging. The publication offers no information regarding what type of wireless charging Motorola will use for its smartwatch, but some recent FCC documentation revealed that it will use the Qi standard.
In addition to this intriguing charging cradle, the leaked images also give us a good look at the smartwatch from all angles, including its back side. The Moto 360 seems to have a stainless steel back and is expected to have water-resistant capabilities with IP67 certification. Other standard smartwatch functions such as a pedometer should also be on board.
These images are not confirmed to be the real deal, but they nonetheless boost anticipation for the device ahead of the big launch. It remains unclear at this point just when exactly the Moto 360 will be ready for prime time, or how much it will cost. Motorola has yet to announce a specific launch date for the device, but it shouldn't be too long before it makes its official debut. We'll make sure to keep you up to date as soon as more information becomes available, but take everything with a grain of salt until an official announcement. In the meantime, head over to Luca Viscardi (Mister Gadget) for a full gallery of exclusive Moto 360 images.
