Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 appears in first images and reveals most specs

The rumored Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 has leaked in its first images, giving us a glimpse into what the device may look like.

Samsung started the whole trend of launching increasingly larger devices, and the company has gradually pushed the boundaries in terms of size. Last year, Samsung launched its biggest phablets in the form of the Galaxy Mega 5.8 and the Galaxy Mega 6.3, and their successor is expected to launch this year as the Galaxy Mega 2.

This purported device has leaked on several occasions so far, but no images were available up until now, and its specs were still unclear. According to a new report from Phone Arena, the purported Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 has appeared in the database of China's Telecommunications Equipment Certification Center, revealing most of its specifications.

According to the publication, the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 that popped up in China comes with the model number SM-G7508Q and supports the TD-LTE standard, which suggests that it will soon make its way to the country's China Mobile operator. The leaked specs are for this Chinese version of the device, but the international model is expected to pack similar hardware.

The Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 will reportedly boast a massive 5.98-inch display with an HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, which means that the upcoming device will be quite large for a smartphone. In terms of dimensions, the phablet measures 163.6 x 84.9 x 8.6 mm.

Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy Mega packs a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, paired with 2GB of RAM. Other specs include a 13-megapixel rear camera with flash, a 5-megapixel front shooter, 8GB of internal storage capacity, and microSD card support for additional memory.

As Phone Arena further reminds, the purported Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 wa also spotted last month at the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) with model number SM-G750A, which suggests that it will land on U.S. shores as well.

It remains unclear at this point just when the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 will make its official debut, but its recent appearances at certification bodies suggest that it will arrive sooner rather than later. We'll keep you in the loop as soon as more information becomes available, so stay tuned.
