Motorola's upcoming Moto X+1 is expected to debut at the company's Sept. 4 event, and a new leak now gives us a glimpse into the handset's design.
The Moto X+1 will launch as the company's new flagship smartphone for 2014, arriving as the successor to last year's much-touted Moto X. Motorola stirred quite some waves last year with its Moto X not because the smartphone came with groundbreaking specs or top-notch features, but because it offered unprecedented and unparalleled customization options.
With its Moto X, Motorola allowed prospective buyers to design their own smartphone to suit their tastes and preferences perfectly. Users had more than 2,000 possible combinations to choose from to design their Moto X using the Moto Maker customization tool.
The Moto X+1 is expected to boast notable improvements over its predecessor, but retain the high customization options. Nothing is official regarding the Moto X successor just yet, but more details are popping up ahead of the big unveiling on Sept. 4.
Well-known and trusted tipster @evleaks, aka Evan Blass, has now posted one last leak ahead of his retirement. The tipster shared countless leaks in the past and proved to be accurate most of the times, and now his retirement gift to fans consists of a Moto X+1 leak.
The newly-leaked image not only gives us a glimpse into how the Moto X+1 may look like in terms of design, but it also confirms that the smartphone will be making its way to at least one of the major U.S. carriers. The handset shown in the photo sports a Verizon branding on the bottom part of its rear case, which means that Big Red will add the Moto X+1 to its portfolio.
The image further shows what looks like two small LED lights on each lateral side of the camera, as well as a Motorola logo that's as big as the camera sensor. The photo shows black and white/bamboo color options, which may launch as the standard models. More specifically, the white model seems to have a neat bamboo back cover and a seemingly aluminum frame, while the black variant appears to have a matte finish.
The Moto X+1 is still expected to come with various customization options just like its predecessor, available through Moto Maker. With nothing officially confirmed for now, however, take this leak with a grain of salt. We'll learn the official scoop straight from the source soon enough, as Motorola's Sept. 4 event is just around the corner.
