The curved Samsung Galaxy Note Edge has gone up for pre-order in the UK from retailer Clove, sporting quite a hefty price tag unlocked.
Samsung unveiled two high-end phablets this year, in early September: the new Galaxy Note 4 flagship, and the intriguing Galaxy Note Edge. While the former is set to be widely available worldwide, the latter will come with more limited availability, similarly to how the company launched its Samsung Galaxy Round curved-display smartphone last year.
The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is quite a unique device, boasting an oddly curved display on one of its sides. The device comes with high-end specs and features all around, including a whopping QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.
"Samsung's relentless pursuit of the best in innovation through the optimization of mobile technology and the user experience has led to the debut of the innovative and unique Galaxy Note Edge," Samsung touted earlier this month, when announcing its new Note devices. "Taking the Galaxy Note experience to the next level, the Note Edge provides users with a new way to access information, engage with their mobile device, and express their personality and tastes. The Galaxy Note Edge's unique curved Edge screen provides quick access to frequently used apps, alerts and device functionality - even when the cover is closed - all with the swipe of a thumb. Users can also receive notifications directly on the Edge Screen while watching videos without disturbing their viewing."
Despite previous reports suggesting that the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge will only be available as a "limited concept," retailer Clove UK has now started taking pre-orders for the device.
Interested customers will have to shell out a hefty £650 (about $1,050) for the unlocked Galaxy Note Edge (including taxes), but the high price was expected considering the device's specs and limited availability.
Clove makes no mention of when it expects to actually have the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge in stock, which means that no exact launch date is currently available for the device. It also remains unclear at this point whether stock will consist of UK models or imports when it does become available.
