Low-cost $100 Xiaomi LTE tablet drops by TENAA, should debut soon

A low-cost $100 Xiaomi tablet with LTE support has dropped by the Chinese certification body TENAA, suggesting that it may debut soon.

Xiaomi is a rising force that is rapidly gaining ground on the mobile market, as the company is offering attractive devices at very affordable price points. Dubbed the "Apple of China," Xiaomi saw great success so far and has broken record after record, with its devices selling out in no time.

Last month, news started surfacing regarding an upcoming Xiaomi tablet with a 9.2-inch display and a 64-bit processor under the hood. Not many details were available at that point, but more information has now surfaced regarding an unannounced Xiaomi slate with 4G LTE connectivity. The device just dropped by TENAA, as spotted by MyDrivers.

"Xiaomi device codenamed 2,014,811 has received approval to go on sale in China and according to government database details will be able to connect to GSM, WCDMA, TD-LTE and FDD-LTE networks. That makes this new tablet a little more desirable than the current Mi Pad which supports only WIFI," GizChina also reports.

Based on rumors and leaks so far, this upcoming Xiaomi tablet will sport a 9.2-inch display with an HD 720p resolution, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor under the hood (likely clocked at 1.2GHz), 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage capacity, and dual cameras. Xiaomi may release this slate in two configurations: Wi-Fi-only, and a LTE-enabled Wi-Fi + Cellular model.

If these rumors turn out to be accurate, this slate will be the largest tablet from Xiaomi, as well as the first one to come with cellular support. The existing Xiaomi Mi Pad, for instance, comes with top-notch specs on board, including a Tegra K1 processor, a 7.9-inch 2048 x 1536 pixel display, and a 6,700 mAh battery. The Mi Pad (see image above) costs just $240, but it doesn't feature cellular support.

The upcoming Xiaomi tablet with LTE will reportedly retail for roughly CNY 599, which would translate to about $100. It may come with lower-end specs compared to the Mi Pad, but LTE connectivity at that price point is definitely attractive. The slate may even come with dual-SIM support, but it remains unconfirmed at this point.

In fact, all of the above-listed specs are based solely on rumors and leaks, so it is highly recommended to take them with a grain of salt. The TENAA listing, on the other hand, indicates that this new Xiaomi tablet is very much real and is about to make its debut shortly. Xiaomi will likely unveil the slate by the end of the year, and we'll keep you up to date as soon as it does.
