Microsoft Lumia 535 ‘Coming Soon’ to the UK

The Microsoft Lumia 535, the first Lumia device to ditch the "Nokia" moniker from its name, is ready to make its debut in the UK soon.

Microsoft unveiled its first Nokia-less Lumia device earlier in November, marking the beginning of a new era for the Lumia series. The Microsoft Lumia 535 already made its debut in some countries, but it is yet to see a wider release in more markets around the world.

The UK, however, is apparently ready to see the device soon, as the Microsoft Store UK lists the Lumia 535 as "coming soon." No specific launch date is available at this time, but it shouldn't take too long now until the handset hits commercial availability in the country.

The Microsoft Lumia 535 comes as an entry-level device designed to bring the Windows Phone experience to the budget segment of the smartphone market. In terms of specifications, the smartphone sports a 5-inch IPS display with a modest qHD resolution of 950 x 540, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, and 1GB of RAM.

Other specs include 8GB of internal storage capacity, a microSD card slot for additional memory of up to 128GB, a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, and a 5-megapixel front shooter suitable for selfies.

"Lumia 535 comes with our '5x5x5' proposition," Jo Harlow, corporate vice president for Phones at Microsoft, said in a press release when announcing the device. "Innovation should be available to everyone, and we are doing this through the very best integrated Microsoft services included and out of the box, a 5MP wide-angle front-facing camera, and a spacious 5-inch qHD screen - all at an affordable price."

Microsoft also touted that its new Lumia 535 will always boast the latest version of Windows Phone, as it will receive over-the-air (OTA) updates on a regular basis. For now, the smartphone comes with the Lumia Denim Update on board out of the box and rocks popular features such as Cortana, Live Folders, Action Center, Word Flow, and others introduced with the latest version of the OS.

When it comes to color options, the Microsoft Lumia 535 retains the cheerfulness of the Lumia lineup and sports an array of options, including bright green, bright orange, cyan, dark grey, white, and black.

Microsoft should offer more details on the UK launch of the Lumia 535 soon enough and we'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn more, so stay tuned.
