The BlackBerry Classic smartphone expected to debut later this month has now leaked in a new model, posing for the camera in a white avatar.
BlackBerry is expected to release a new handset called the BlackBerry Classic on Dec. 17, offering a new alternative with the QWERTY-style design that consecrated the company.
The Canadian smartphone maker was once at the top of the food chain, offering high-end options for enterprise users and not only, but has lost significant ground to rivals in recent years. Falling behind Android, iOS, and Windows Phone, BlackBerry is still trying to make a comeback and regain at least some of that lost market share. The company has been bleeding customers for quite some time, but it's determined to keep going and turn things around.
More recently, the oddly square BlackBerry Passport handset has raised plenty of interest, and the company is now gearing up to launch another smartphone running BB 10.3 OS. So far, the BlackBerry Classic had surfaced in a black model, but a new leak now shows the device in a white color option as well.
The image comes from N4BB and appears to be an official press photo for the handset, albeit it has not been formally confirmed at this point. As you can see in the photo above, the BlackBerry Classic, as the name itself suggests, returns to a classic BlackBerry design with a QWERTY keyboard and rounded corners.
When it comes to specifications, the BlackBerry Classic is expected to sport a 3.46-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 720 x 720 pixels and pack a dual-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz under the hood. The handset seems to come with a four-row QWERTY keyboard and is expected to feature both front- and rear facing cameras, sporting an 8-megapixel rear shooter and a 2-megapixel sensor on its front. Other rumored specs include 16GB of internal storage capacity, a microSD card slot for additional memory, and a 2,500 mAh battery to keep everything up and running.
If BlackBerry does indeed plan to unveil this device on Dec. 17, more information should become available next week straight from the source. We'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn more, so stay tuned.
