The Samsung Galaxy S6 may sport a more premium look with a metal frame around its edges, if newly-leaked images turn out to be accurate.
So far, Samsung has launched all of its flagship smartphones with polycarbonate bodies, and has received severe criticism over its love of plastic. The company has started to change its strategy in recent months, launching a Galaxy Alpha smartphone with a metal frame, followed by the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 handsets with full-metal bodies.
None of these three handsets are high-end, but Samsung is widely expected to extend the metal courtesy to its upcoming flagship smartphone as well, not only mid-range phones and flagship phablets. More specifically, the Samsung Galaxy S6 is rumored to boast a more premium design compared to the Galaxy S5, and some new photos have now leaked online showing a metal frame for the purported smartphone.
French website Nowhereelse has posted some images allegedly showing the metal casing for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6. If these photos turn out to be the real deal, Samsung's next-generation flagship will finally feature a more premium design instead of the dreaded plastic body.
In terms of specifications, previous rumors have indicated that the Samsung Galaxy S6 will venture into QHD territory, boasting a 5-inch display with a high resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The smartphone is further expected to come in two variants with different processors, namely a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 or a Samsung Exynos 7420 chipset. The handset will reportedly come with 3GB or 4GB of RAM.
Other rumored specs of the purported Galaxy S6 include a 20-megapixel rear camera and a range of internal storage options, which may include a higher-capacity 128GB variant. On the software side, the smartphone is expected to launch with the latest version of Android on board, rocking Android Lollipop out of the box.
With nothing officially confirmed at this point, however, it is highly recommended to take all leaks, rumors, and speculation with a pinch of salt. The Samsung Galaxy S6 is expected to make its official debut in the coming months, and more information will surely surface shortly.
