CES 2015: HTC Desire 826 debuts with UltraPixel selfie camera & more

HTC took to CES 2015 to unveil a neat new mid-range smartphone, introducing the latest member of its Desire family: the HTC Desire 826.

After teasing a new Desire unveiling a few days ago, prior to CES 2015, HTC has now officially unveiled its latest mid-range flagship smartphone in the form of the HTC Desire 826. The new model comes as a successor to the Desire 820, which made its debut roughly four months ago, but borrows notable design features from the stylish Desire Eye.

More specifically, the new Desire 826 sports the same BoomSound front-facing stereo speakers cleverly hidden at the top and bottom bezels, and this time Dolby Audio is in the mix as well. The Desire 826 also comes with the same anti-slip soft sides and the same overall look of the Desire Eye, but it also sports some significant changes.

Instead of a 13-megapixel front shooter, for instance, the new HTC Desire 826 boasts the company's much-touted UltraPixel camera on the front, allowing users to take faster and brighter self shots even in low-light conditions.

The HTC Desire 826 further sports a 5.5-inch display with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and packs an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset under the hood, consisting of four cores clocked at 1.7GHz and four clocked at 1GHz. Other specs include 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage capacity, microSD support for additional storage, a 13-megapixel rear camera with single-LED flash, and a 2,600 mAh battery to keep everything up and running. On the software side, Android Lollipop will run the show.

The latest member of the HTC Desire family also comes with dual-SIM capabilities (nano-SIM standard), with both slots supporting LTE. The Desire 826 dual-SIM will not be available in all markets.

The new HTC Desire 826 is expected to start rolling out in markets across the world at the end of this month, but the company has yet to offer exact pricing and availability details.
