T-Mobile is celebrating Valentine's Day with a neat new promotion, offering a free tablet to consumers who purchase a postpaid data plan of 1GB or higher.
In other words, the Uncarrier is bringing back its popular "Tablet on Us" deal, offering its most popular slate: the Alcatel OneTouch Pop 7. Interested customers who want to take advantage of this deal will have to pay $0 down and $0 monthly installments for the tablet, which leaves them only with the sales tax and the cost of their chosen postpaid plan.
The offer is part of a limited-time promotion, which will kick off on Thursday, Feb. 12, and run through Monday, Feb. 16.
It's worth pointing out that the sales tax customers will have to pay will vary depending on state, but it shouldn't cost more than $10 or $15.
"Limited time offer; subject to change. Qualifying mobile internet service of 1GB or higher, credit check & EIP agreement req'd. $7 monthly payment applied as bill credit for 24 months with active service. If you cancel wireless service, remaining tablet balance of up to $168 becomes due. 0% APR OAC. Plus taxes & fees; Total device tax due at sale," reads the fine print for this promotional Valentine's Day weekend offer.
This means that the tablet itself normally costs $7 per month, but that amount will be added as credit to customers' monthly bill. If at one point you want to cancel your wireless service but the two-year period has not expired, you will have to pay the remaining balance leftover on the tablet (up to $168).
As previously mentioned, this offer is valid for customers who purchase data plans starting at 1GB. When it comes to pricing, plans start a $10 per month for 1GB and go all the way up to $70 per month for 11GB.
As for the tablet itself, the Alcatel OneTouch Pop 7 comes with a 7-inch display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels and packs a 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 processor and 1GB of RAM under the hood. The slate further features 8GB of internal storage capacity, a microSD card slot for additional memory of up to 32GB, a 3,240 mAh battery to keep things up and running, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean on the software side.
