HTC One M7 owners in Europe are in for some good news, as Android 5.0 Lollipop has officially started rolling out to the device.
With the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 just a few short days away, HTC fans are eagerly waiting to see what the new-generation HTC One M9 will bring to the table when it makes its official debut on Sunday, March 1.
Although HTC is getting ready to unveil its new flagship smartphone for 2015, however, the company has not forgotten about its older devices. The HTC One M7 that launched back in 2013 stirred lots of interest worldwide and proved to be widely popular, and many still use it today. The company promised an update to Android 5.0 Lollipop a while ago, and more versions of the smartphone are now getting a taste of Lollipop.
The much-appreciated 2013 flagship HTC One is now getting a software treat in Europe, as an update to the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop is now rolling out over the air (OTA).
The announcement is as official as it gets, as it comes from the company's own Senior Global Online Communications Manager, Jeff Gordon (@urbanstrata), who posted the good news on Twitter on Wednesday, Feb. 25.
"HTC One (M7) owners in Europe, check for software updates starting this morning--you've got Lollipop!" reads the tweet.
Judging by the comments in response to the announcement, a number of users have already received Android 5.0 Lollipop on their HTC One M7 already. Keep in mind, however, that OTA updates always roll out gradually in order to avoid server overloads, which means that it may take a few days for all units to receive the new software treat.
The latest Android 5.0 Lollipop will bring a slew of neat features and improvements to the table, including the much-touted lock-screen card UI element, an improved quick settings menu, a new recent apps list, and others.
