The Verizon Wireless Nexus 6 may finally make its official debut this week, if the latest leak turns out to be accurate.
Google unveiled its latest Nexus 6 flagship smartphone made in collaboration with Motorola back in mid-October and the handset has already been available on the market for a good while, although it faced some supply issues that made it quite hard to come by.
Verizon Wireless was among the carriers who promised to offer the handset when it became official, but so far it has provided no additional details as to when it will actually start selling the Nexus 6. The other three major U.S. carriers, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint, have been offering the handset for a few months already.
It's no big surprise to see Verizon arrive late to the party, as the carrier has dragged its feet on several occasions before. Nevertheless, it now seems that Big Red may finally be ready to start selling the Motorola-made Google Nexus 6 this week.
According to one Reddit user, the Verizon Nexus 6 will go on sale on Thursday, March 12. The user posted an image of a Verizon promotional material, listing the availability date as March 12 via web & direct fulfillment, and March 19 via all channels, including physical retal locations. The image in question can be found here, on image hosting site Imgur.
"Just got off the phone with a rep and she confirmed the dates," noted the tipster, Reddit user Mh1781. "Also 32 GB midnight blue is all they offer. $250. Shipping is two business days if anyone is curious."
The folks over at Phandroid also talked with people close to Verizon and confirmed this leak, adding that the Verizon Nexus 6 will be available for $249 with a two-year service agreement and $699 off-contract. The publication further reports that the Verizon Nexus 6 will rock Android 5.1 out of the box, signaling an imminent update for other Nexus devices and carrier versions. Moreover, Phandroid also confirmed that only the Midnight Blue model of the Nexus 6 will be available from Verizon. Lastly, the publication confirmed that Verizon will be offering a promo six-month subscription to Google Play Music for free.
