The new Samsung Galaxy S6 may be ready to make its commercial debut on April 11 in the U.S., according to newly-leaked information.
Samsung introduced its latest Galaxy S6 flagship smartphone along with the intriguingly curved Galaxy S6 Edge variant back at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015, stirring lots of interest worldwide.
The company did not provide any specific launch and pricing details so far, but new information reveals that the Samsung Galaxy S6 may launch next month in the U.S., hitting all major carriers at once.
More specifically, PhoneArena reports having received a tip from one of its readers, revealing that the Samsung Galaxy S6 release date is set for Saturday, April 11 in the U.S. The tipster reportedly works for one of the four major U.S. carriers, and found out the release date from a Samsung sales representative for the Greater Midwest area.
PhoneArena further points out that the April 11 launch date is for all four major U.S. carriers, which means that AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, and T-Mobile will all release the Samsung Galaxy S6 on the same day.
Moreover, the tipster also said that Samsung representatives are currently traveling between retail locations to demonstrate the Samsung Galaxy S6, instructing sales reps.
It remains unclear, however, just when the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge variant will make its debut, as it's not certain for now whether it will arrive on the same date as the "standard" Galaxy S6. The source mentioned that a Samsung rep said the Galaxy S6 Edge would come in a "limited capacity," which means it may have a similar launch as the Galaxy Note Edge phablet released last year.
As for demand, the company's latest-generation smartphones seem to be quite popular already. Samsung reportedly saw roughly 20 million pre-orders for the two handsets, with the Galaxy S6 accounting for the vast majority - 15 million. Lastly, when it comes to U.S. pre-orders, Verizon Wireless is expected to start taking pre-orders on April 1 for both the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge.
Nothing is officially confirmed at this point regarding the launch date and pricing of the Galaxy S6, but Samsung should provide more information shortly. We'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn more.
