The purported HTC One M9 Plus just surfaced online in a prototype that shows it next to the official One M9 flagship.
Before HTC officially took the wraps off its new One M9 back at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 earlier this month, the rumor mill was also churning in regards to a phablet variant called the One M9 Plus.
The phablet variant was rumored to sport a larger display, a higher resolution camera, as well as a Galaxy-like fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button. A few images allegedly showing the HTC One M9 Plus have already leaked online, and now we have a new image claiming to depict a prototype of the device.
It's worth pointing out that HTC has not confirmed plans to launch a One M9 Plus just yet, and this newly leaked image is not an actual press render of the device - it's a prototype courtesy of popular tipster @OnLeaks, showing the purported One M9 Plus side by side with the One M9.
Based on this new leak (see image above), the HTC One M9 will have a very similar design to the flagship One M9, albeit with a few differences. First of all, the One M9 Plus seems to have a notably bigger chassis overall, although it sports the same front-facing camera and BoomSound dual-speaker setup as the original One M9. On the bottom side of the device, the image shows a physical home button that could serve as a fingerprint reader as well. Moving on to the back of the device, the HTC One M9 Plus appears to have the Duo Lens camera found on last year's HTC One M8, absent in this year's One M9.
In a separate tweet, @OnLeaks also revealed a couple of details regarding the purported device. According to the tipster, the HTC One M9 Plus will sport a 5.2-inch display and measure 150.9 x 72.5 x 10.15. The leaker doesn't offer any additional information regarding the handset's processor, RAM, camera, or other specs.
As previously mentioned, this is not an official press render of the upcoming HTC One M9 Plus. As @OnLeaks himself points out, he got a chance to see the One M9 Plus prototype and made this image based on what he's seen, in order to show what the phablet could look like next to the One M9. This means that the final product may not look like this when or if it sees the light of day.
Previous leaks suggested that the HTC One M9 Plus might make its official debut sometime in late March or early April, but HTC has yet to offer any official details in this regards.
This means that it all remains in the rumor state at this point, and all leaks should be treated accordingly. We'll keep you up to date as soon as more information comes to light, but take everything with a grain of salt in the meantime.
