The new-generation Samsung Galaxy S6 will officially become available on Cricket Wireless next week, as it joins the carrier's lineup on Friday, April 24.
Cricket Wireless is expanding its portfolio of devices with Samsung's latest flagship smartphone, allowing interested customers to get the device on a prepaid option rather than committing to a lengthy carrier agreement. Starting on April 24, the Samsung Galaxy S6 will be available through Cricket's retail locations, as well as online through the company's website.
Cricket Wireless will be offering the Samsung Galaxy S6 for $649.99 outright, but it will also allow customers to purchase the device on one of its newly-announced smart payment plans that require only a $19.99 down payment, with a credit check and a smartphone plan. For Cricket's 90-day same-as-cash payment plan, however, customers will have to shell out $49.99 upfront to get the device. No credit check is required for the latter option.
"The Samsung Galaxy S 6 is a must-have device for smartphone lovers, and consumers are beginning to shop for a great deal. That's where we come in," Andy Smoak, head of devices for Cricket Wireless, said in a new press release on Wednesday, April 15. "Cricket's low monthly rate plans combined with our new Phone Payment Plans make the latest premium devices like the Samsung S 6 easier to get. Add in the fact that Cricket has more 4G LTE coverage nationwide than T-Mobile, Metro-PCS, Sprint or Boost, and it makes Cricket a great choice for smart consumers."
As a reminder, the new-generation Samsung Galaxy S6 flagship made its debut back at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 in early March, boasting a new design and build materials, as well as top-notch specs and features all around. The smartphone finally ditches the dreaded plastic body of its predecessors, instead sporting a metal frame and a glass back that makes it look and feel more premium.
In terms of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S6 features a 5.1-inch display with a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and packs a powerful Exynos 7420 processor under the hood, paired with 3GB of RAM. Other specs include 32GB of internal storage capacity (non-expandable), a 16-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front shooter, and a 2,550 mAh non-removable battery to keep things up and running. On the software side, Android 5.0 Lollipop runs the show, complete with Samsung's own TouchWiz UI on top.
The Galaxy S6 has already stirred lots of interest since its debut and is shaping up to be in great demand, and Cricket Wireless customers will be able to purchase the smartphone starting on April 24.
