Verizon HTC One M7 Android 5.0 Lollipop update finally rolling out

Owners of the HTC One M7 on Verizon Wireless are finally in for some good news, as the carrier is now pushing Android 5.0 Lollipop.

When it comes to HTC devices, the HTC One M9 got most of the attention recently because it's the company's latest flagship smartphone. Older models, however, are worthy of attention as well, especially since plenty of smartphone users worldwide still rely on older iterations.

The HTC One M7, also known as the original HTC One, is the smartphone that introduced the company's highly-praised design to cpmplement its high-end specs. Subsequent iterations, i.e. the One M8 and the new One M9, retained the same aluminum unibody premium design of the One M7, building on the same recipe for success.

The original HTC One may no longer be the latest flagship out there, but it's nonetheless considered a great smartphone that can still hold its own. For Verizon users, however, the biggest drawback was the fact that their HTC One M7 did not get a taste of Lollipop.

While Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile have already rolled out Android 5.0 Lollipop for their respective versions of the HTC One M7, Verizon Wireless dragged its feet and left users waiting - until now.

Verizon is notorious for taking its sweet time when it comes to delivering updates, but the carrier has now finally started to upgrade its One M7 to Android 5.0 Lollipop. The update is quite overdue, but it's better late than never.

Just a couple of days ago, HTC's Mo Versi announced on Twitter than the HTC One M7 on Verizon Wireless has received technical approval (TA) and will finally get the long-awaited update to Android 5.0 Lollipop starting on Thursday, May 14, and the big day has now arrived.

"Verizon HTC One (M7) Owners! Thank you for your amazing patience. We've received TA on L OS, OTA starting on Thursday," read the tweet.

The update will bring a slew of neat treats to the table, including security enhancements and visual tweaks such as enhanced notifications and a redesigned recent apps panel. Android 5.0 Lollipop will come as a big upgrade compared to the previous version, and should notably improve the overall experience.

As always, keep in mind that software updates roll out gradually, which means that it may take some time for all devices to get it. Nevertheless, Android 5.0 Lollipop has now started its journey to the Verizon HTC One M7, so it should arrive shortly.
