ASUS already acknowledged plans to launch a new line of ZenPad tablets later this year, and more details are now starting to surface.
The company has yet to offer any hints regarding what its new ZenPad series will bring to the table, but some intriguing information has now come to light revealing two upcoming slates from ASUS: the ZenPad 7 (Z170C) and ZenPad 8 (Z380C).
The information comes from Notebook Italia and Notik.ru, which have spotted the details in retail listings and FCC documents. Both the ZenPad 7 and the ZenPad 8 are expected to run Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, pack Intel processors, and come in several models.
The ZenPad 8, as the name itself suggests, will feature an 8-inch screen with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 and come in different variants with slightly different internals. ASUS will reportedly offer its ZenPad 8 either with an Intel Atom Z3560 or a Z3450 processor, as well as several internal storage configurations - 8, 16, 32, or 64GB. All models should come with 2GB of RAM and be available in Wi-Fi or 3G/4G variants.
The smaller ASUS ZenPad 7, meanwhile, will apparently feature a 7-inch display with a resolution of 1024 x 600, a quad-core Intel Atom x3 processor paired with just 1GB of RAM, and 8GB or 16GB of internal storage capacity, expandable via microSD. In other words, the ZenPad 7 is shaping up as a mid-range offering and should come with a budget-friendly price tag. The slate is further expected to sport a 2-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front shooter, and come in Wi-Fi and 3G models.
Based on the newly-surfaced information, the ASUS ZenPad 7 is expected to launch sometime in July, sporting an attractive price of €139 or €159. It remains unclear at this point when the larger and better-specced ZenPad 8 will launch or how much it will cost.
ASUS is expected to officially unveil its new ZenPad series of tablets at the upcoming Computex show, which will take place from June 2 to June 5.
