Unannounced HTC H7 tablet spotted on Zauba with mid-range specs

A new, unannounced HTC tablet with mid-range specifications on board has recently surfaced on import/export tracking site Zauba, suggesting a release later this year.

HTC has been rumored for quite some time now to be working on a budget-friendly tablet to launch sometime in the second half of 2015 and more information has now surfaced in this regards. Import/export tracking site Zauba keeps track of various devices as they arrive in India for research and development (R&D) purposes before they're ready to hit the market.

An unannounced HTC H7 tablet has made its way to Zauba recently, and the listing in question also reveals some of the core specifications of the device. Based on this Zauba listing dated May 15, the HTC H7 slate will sport a 7-inch display (unspecified resolution), a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage capacity. Moreover, the tablet will apparently not only feature cellular connectivity, but it will also come with dual-SIM support.

The listing on Zauba further reveals that the HTC H7 is priced at INR 9,565 per unit (roughly $150), but the prices listed on the import/exporting site are always lower than the actual pricing of the device when it launches.

Nevertheless, these specifications suggest that the HTC H7 will be a budget-friendly device with mid-range hardware on board, and it should be priced accordingly. Plenty of budget tablets are already available on the market from various manufacturers, and HTC will likely price its offering competitively in order to face rivals.

HTC hasn't seen much success on the tablet market until recently, when it launched the Nexus 9 in collaboration with Google, but a cheap offering with decent specifications might be able to raise some interest and help the company regain some of its lost market share.

The listing makes no mention of processor type, cameras, display resolution, or other spec details, so it remains to be seen just what exactly the new HTC H7 will have to bring to the table. Zauba does not mention when this new slate from HTC will hit the market, but it is expected to become official sometime in the second half of this year.

No additional information is available at this point, but more details will surely surface closer to launch. We'll make sure to keep you up to date as soon as we learn more, so stay tuned.
