ASUS is apparently gearing up to join the selfie party with a new ZenFone smartphone, if the latest company teaser is any indication.
Self-shots, more commonly known as selfies, have become a real phenomenon and the trend doesn't show any signs of dying down. From selfies taken at the bathroom to ones taken while skydiving, climbing on top of a train, or in some other circumstances, selfies have become a big part of today's society and the word 'selfie' even got accepted into the dictionary. Some smartphone users take dozens of selfies each day, while others have even died while taking a selfie in dangerous environments.
Smartphone manufacturers are naturally looking to cash in on the growing selfie trend and an increasing number of smartphones now come with powerful front shooters to cater to selfie addicts.
ASUS is now getting ready to add a new handset to its ZenFone lineup, and all signs point to a selfie phone. The company posted a teaser image on its Facebook page, along with an intriguing description hinting at a high-end front camera.
"Which new #Zenfone family member will be unveiled at #Computex15?
Hint: Illuminate the beauty that's in You through the front camera of the ZenFone," touted ASUS.
In other words, ASUS will unveil a selfie-friendly ZenFone next week at the Computex event in Taiwan. It remains to be seen just how the smartphone will be called or what specifications it will have on board, but it will all come to light soon enough.
The selfie-friendly ASUS ZenFone is expected to have 13-megapixel cameras on both its front and rear, along with dual-LED flash for high-quality shots even in low-light environments. The current ZenFone features a 13-megapixel rear camera, while the front shooter has 5 megapixels.
In addition to this selfie smartphone, ASUS is also expected to launch some other devices as well at Computex. Based on rumors so far, the company could unveil new ZenPad tablets, including an 8-inch slate, but it remains unconfirmed for now.
Computex is just around the corner, however, and we'll soon learn the official scoop straight from the source. We'll keep you up to date as soon as ASUS makes its announcements, so make sure to check back.
