Luxury automaker, BMW made two new cars for its top M Performances 1 and 2 series ranges, the M140i and M240i. It is also packed with updated power ups, the latest from its current, M135i and M235i.
BMW came up with new names to show the cars' upgrade, as it is now the newest version of its predecessor, M135i, which is powered up with six-cylinder turbo, Gizmag reported. While the M135i has a 250 kW (340 hp) for bumping break power, which is similar from 1 Series M Coupe model in 2011 and 2012, the new M140i has obtained 10 kW (13 hp).
Both M-badged models have a new 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine 500 Nm (396 lb. ft) of torque, which is also similar to 1M Coupe that produces 1,500 and 4,500 rpm. The latest two are also faster than the 2011 range series 1 and 2, completing the sprint in 4.9 second 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint by 0.1 respectively, while both automatic models take 4.3 sec to hit the mark.
The cars have a crankcase and cylinder head made of aluminum with newest generation variable valve timing. This new feature is for a smooth and enhanced responsiveness.
Along with these performance improvements, BMW has given cars new names to show its upgrades. The four-cylinder 2-series coupes and convertibles will be called M230i, while the six-cylinder and M235i will have the name of M240i, according to Car and Driver.
The mentioned latest engines are just the new modified transformations for the 2017 BMW 2-series. The 230i type and the M240i is still on coupe and convertible body form. BMW will also put the new lineups for sale with prices slightly change from this year's base pricing worth, $33,845 on 228i coupe, while $45,145 pricing for M235i. The German automaker will release additional details this summer, which will include its official price.
